Hannah Smith is someone who I aspire to be. She seemed so perfect to me even though she was telling me about many flaws in her life. Hannah is a Tennessee Titans cheerleader, and she deserves that position more than ever. Not only is Hannah a Tennessee Titans Cheerleader she also went to Mississippi State! Since this is the college I will most likely be going to next year everything she talking about seemed so appealing to me. She did not make the Mississippi State dance team not once, but also twice, and now look where she is. She had the determination to prove people wrong and that got her to fulfill one of her dreams. While talking to her I didn't have to ask many questions at all, she just kept on going about college and also professional cheer leading. I figured it was just her personality to talk non stop, but then she said to me "I want you to be overly prepared for whatever comes your way." I gathered a lot of new information from her that will help me in the long run. She said NOT to pick a random room mate. Her first random room mate ended up being escorted off the campus just three weeks into school for having meth chemicals in their dorm. This was so traumatizing to me, so I definitely will not be doing a random room mate. She also told me to go through all four years of college before I become a professional cheerleader. NFL cheer leading will not be my career forever and I need to be prepared for anything that may come my way. She also said that there is so much liability to being a NFL cheer leader, so I should at least wait until I am 21. The great thing about Hannah is that she probably has no idea how much of an influence she was on me, and one day I hope I can influence someone as much as she has influenced me.
Realizing how much of an impact an NFL cheer leader has on one person, I've always wondered how much of an impact they probably have on everybody else. On NPR (National Public Radio) it was talked about how the Dallas cowboys and their cheerleaders ("Americas team") helped Dallas overcome being known as the "city of hate" after Kennedy's assassination. I never knew Dallas went through such a struggle with this, and this only makes the DCC's even more appealing to me. My mom said they have always been appealing to me. My parents would watch the Dallas Cowboys games with me but I would only watch to look for the cheerleaders. Being a big cowboys fan, my dad said it would be so cool for me to be a DCC so that he could be able to go to the games but also be able to watch me at the same time. My family used to go to the Texas State fair every year during fall break and that's wear I got my DCC costume for Halloween one year when I was around the age of 7. I wore the costume a lot more than just on Halloween. Looking back on those pictures in that costume makes me want to live out my childhood dream. Both parents agreed that becoming a DCC would be a step to success. Mom said, "Not only will you be a cheerleader you will be meeting new people and opportunities for the future." This gives me hope for so much more of my future, especially after my college years. My mom also pointed out that the DCC's do a lot of volunteer work and travel, and those two things are things that interest me. I've always wanted to go over seas and volunteer, or even volunteer here in America and make an impact on someones life. Becoming a DCC would give me so many opportunities to be like Hannah and make an impact on someones life but also help myself make my dream become a reality.
This is almost like a prediction of your life in the beginning. Not only is she a cheerleader but she goes to the same school you want to go to! I'm glad you were able to find somebody so appealing and powerful towards your own goals. She seems like a positive influence who cares about those passionate towards being a cheerleader. I never knew Dallas was called the "City of Hate". I'll have to look that up later tonight because it sounds scandalous.
ReplyDeleteSo cool that you found someone who went through the same things you will be going through on your journey to becoming a DCC! (hopefully without the crazy random roommate) It seems like talking to her, even if just for a short time, solidified your dream of becoming an NFL cheerleader. Can't wait to read your last post!
ReplyDeleteI know how much this means to you and I've talked to you about this. As with Brooke, I want to know more about how cheerleaders were associated at all with Kennedy's association. Seeing concrete evidence, always makes an idea solidify in your mind. I think it is awesome that you have this dream and it has developed and stayed with you. I wish I could talk to someone who is living out my dream and see if they struggled with what I'm struggling with. I can only imagine how helpful she must have been. I'm glad you're excited!
ReplyDeleteI can tell that you are really passionate and excited about wanting to become a Dalls Cowboy cheerleader. Its awesome that you were able to find somebody who is so similar to you and have them be able to give you so much advice and information! You can also tell that this is a dream that you are committed to fulfilling and I hope the best for you! Especially with how involved you always are with FCA I bet the volunteer work the cheerleaders will do is perfect for you
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got to talk to someone who had almost the exact same dreams as you! And for them they came true! That has to be so much more motivation for you. I find it so interesting how the DCC are more than just a cheer squad but they are a symbol for the city. I just feel as though you would fit in perfectly there.
ReplyDeleteIts so cool you found someone who related to you and is achieving your dream. Hopefully you will be able to achieve the dream Hannah Smith is living right now. I am curious as to what liability a Dallas cowboy cheerleader has? You could have asked her about the struggles and the competitiveness when she was trying to become a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. Maybe on your next post you could talk about the Dallas Cowboy cheer-leading show and talk about the struggles.
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else said, it's awesome that you got to meet with her and that she was such a big influence on you. I think it's really cool that she didn't make the MSU dance team but is now so successful. That really can give anyone confidence to never give up on their dreams! It's so cute that you have thought about this from an early age. Not many people( like me) are able to say they have a dream and want to go reach it!
ReplyDeleteFascinating that so much of her interview with you was cautionary. She was really trying to both prepare you and warn you about future pitfalls. It seems a stressful but worthwhile career choice!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing that you got to talk to a tennessee titans cheerleader!! i think its very interesting how you didn't have to ask many questions because she just kept talking and giving you great advice. I think its great that you are asking all these important question now so that you will be prepared later on down the road! it would be interesting if you could find out more about her and her life and what its like to be a tennesee titans cheerleader now.
